Sorry About the Demon (2022) – Film Review
Weak on many levels, the slightly original spin on how characters deal with haunted houses and the good work in making the experience fairly unsettling save this film from being completely irrelevant.

Weak on many levels, the slightly original spin on how characters deal with haunted houses and the good work in making the experience fairly unsettling save this film from being completely irrelevant.

Perfectly jumping from uncomfortably funny, to frighteningly threatening, to terribly sad. The first movie by Mike Nichols is immaculate in every aspect. Its direction, writing, photography, editing, score, and acting are undisputable making it a terrific adaptation of Edward Albee’s 1962 play of the same name.

Sophie’s Choice does not manage to elevate both its tones equally high. While its dramatic part is strong, sustained by a fantastic Meryl Streep, on the other hand the more romantic one based on the “sort of” love triangle between Streep, Kevin Kline and Peter MacNicol is quite weak.

Interesting in its more naturalistic look into the world of truck-stop prostitution, the movie unfortunately puts more of its attention onto a formulaic and cliché-heavy horror.

Clearly uneven macaroni combat with some noteworthy elements such as its locations, score and, to some extent, photography but also some ridiculous ones such as its acting and writing.
